ideas to promote real innovation

Tired of seeing the same ideas recycled and an overall lack of originality, I'm using this blog as a way to start communication that will hopefully lead to advancements in various industries and technology.

Will this be the next Apple TV?

My first post is really a repost of an idea I've had brewing for a while and finally came out one morning after I was fed up with a poor iOS6 release and one too many reports about an iPad mini (which I am not a fan of), so I vented on Google+.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let's hope Apple's iTV isn't what everyone expects.
So, I've been troubled by the trend Apple has started down by releasing mediocre products and software.  When Keynote's were once filled with "How did they do that?", they have lately been "So what else is new?".  Could Apple's own success and synonymity with innovation be part of the blame?  Sure.  The loss of such an incredible visionary and leader in Steve Jobs?  Absolutely.  But the people within the company are still the same.  Those who built such great products and wowed us time and again are there - and yes Jonathan Ive I'm looking at you.  So what has been holding back such a creative genius and collective of incredible engineers?  More on that in the following days, but in the mean time maybe this will help inspire what could be next.

I call it the iScape, and see it as what Apple SHOULD release as the much ballyhoo'd iTV.  First, it's not a conventional LED display that we associate with TVs and with Apple's great product line because an LED display is old, outdated, and has limitations.  The iScape is a projector, giving it the ability to work on nearly any size wall with the dimensions desired.  Why constrain ourselves with a fixed screen size, when you can have a great picture the size of your liking.

Fitted with the latest technology in connectivity, it has the same hardware specifications as the 2.5Ghz Mac mini including Bluetooth, Wifi, and Thunderbolt.  Since this is an entertainment system it also includes HDMI, Coaxial, and USB 3.0 connections to pair with leading Cable and Satellite providers specifications.  The operating system will be iOS 7 which includes support for DVR capabilities for the new iScape.  The iScape will not only be able to play content from your service provider, but it also can draw from the vast iTunes library for your entertainment needs, revolutionizing OnDemand services.

But we won't stop there, because there is another feature in store which is gaming.  You will be able to use any handheld iOS 7 device as a controller for games when paired with the iScape, bringing a whole new depth to interactive gaming.  Not only do the controls and gyroscope work perfectly as handhelds, but you have screens that can display important information like a HUD that can then leave the main screen for better immersion.  Have a racing game?  Look as your iPad while driving to see who is behind you.  The possibilities are endless.

By going away from the conventional television, I really think the possibilities would be endless for Apple if they adopted a product like this.  It would point the powerhouse of innovation down the line of optics and motion technology that will change how we do TV, which is exactly what they did with the iPhone.

Apple, please take a little of your own advise: Think Different.
